What is Ureteroscopy?
Ureteroscopy is a procedure in which a ureteroscope is used to diagnose and treat a variety of problems in the urinary tract. The scope is inserted into the bladder and ureter through the urethra.
Ureteroscopy is especially used to locate and remove stones in the ureter. In case the stones are too big, they are broken into smaller pieces using helium laser. Ureteroscopy is the most common treatment of lower ureteral stones.

- Injury to the ureter
- Infection
- Bleeding
