What is Ureteral Cancer?
Ureteral cancer is cancer in the ureter, a tube that carries urine from kidneys to the bladder. It starts in the cells that line the inside of the ureter. This is uncommon cancer.
What causes Ureteral Cancer?
The exact cause of ureteral cancer is not known. Patients who have or had bladder cancer or kidney cancer are at a higher risk of getting ureteral cancer.
What are the symptoms of Ureteral Cancer?
Symptoms of ureteral cancer are:
- Blood in urine
- painful urination
- Persistent need to urinate
- Unexplained weight loss
- Back pain
How is Ureteral Cancer diagnosed?
Urine tests, imaging tests, and ureteroscopy are conducted to check if the patient is suffering from ureteral cancer.
What are the treatments of Ureteral Cancer?
Based on the stage of the cancer, chemotherapy or a surgery to remove the uterer are recommended.
